I called it this because my scrapbooking goodies make my heart happy :-). Something I can only say about my daughter and fiance. I'm dying for a Cricut Imagine now... Thought I was all out of big machine interest, except maybe one day the KNK. But this one makes my heart fly. The only thing is, it's expensive enough just to try and get the carts I'd like and they seem to be constantly releasing new ones... The only thing that I don't like about the Imagine is PC's usual greediness... Apparently the machine is going to be about $600, but it doesn't print the so-called "original" cartridges contents as a full picture, (layers or something is my understanding, like how you would cut it out), and PC claims they will fix this at a later date... (Does that sound familiar? Releasing things before they have it all worked out?) But guess what you need in order to do it, after they finally get to it?)
If you know PC at all, you guessed it, the Gypsy, which runs around $300-$400. Then there are going to be a ton of new Imagine cartridges to go with it, at about $90 each from what I have seen... At the end of it all, if you spend the $1000 for the Gypsy and Imagine (which is a real drawback for me, because I had no interest in a Gypsy--maybe a lot of other people didn't either, and that's why they are trying to force people to buy them!), you still have to buy carts for the original Cricut and the Imagine.
At the end of this, what you need is to win the lottery or be Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt to keep up with PC and the Cricut craziness.
Which is why despite the lurching in my chest of I GOTTA HAVE IT NOW, I'm going to wait and see what happens with the Imagine. I'll stick with my original plan, new high end camera, for now. But this is Disneyland for me, the part of my web page where all my dreams come true, so I'm going to list everything my little heart desires. I've already achieved a great deal of my wishlist goals, thanks to my patient and very generous fiance :-). I've got a Cricut Expression, a Silhouette SD, a new laptop, and a Epson 1900 large format printer. Not all at once, but you get the idea: he's a wonderful man who's willing to sacrifice to make me happy. And I'm learning to be patient and to save money for the big things--Christmas, birthday, and a little extra here and there.
Anything underlined is important to me now. Anything in italics is something I'd like to save up for or get at a later date.
Update: I've gotten the Cricut Imagine, a Gypsy, and an EOS 60D Canon camera with all the trimmings... Didn't I say I'm a lucky girl?
Update, October/2011 - I've gotten the Grand Calibur for grand nestabilities (only one grand nestabilities to use so far though, I am waiting for a sale). I've also gotten the Sizzix Pro, although again I need some dies to go with it.
OK, right now, top of my list are: Silhouette Cameo, KNK, Nestabilities, Grand Nestabilities, Sizzix dies, Cricut carts, Ipad 2, Silhouette subscription for another year, Innertalk CDs, and border punches. And my chalks need replacing because they broke :( . Also Martha Steward microbeads that look like glitter.
I'd like to maybe eventually get a Cricut Expression v 2 but that is mostly because it wastes less paper and may possibly cut better (I would hope anyway), and is supposed to be easier to use (like you don't need to use the keypads). I have an Imagine so I don't need the ability to use Imagine carts. So it's not something that I need right now.
I've just seen all the improvements they have made to C Expression 2, and I have to say I am really impressed by how much easier they have made to use it, not waste paper, get as many designs as possible, fit designs to the mat, fit a banner type design in landscape and portrait, and within a certain space (for example, 48 in). I think I am going to need to get one. Hopefully if I can figure out a way to use all my programs and get all the functions I might be able to sell my Cricut Expression 1. Or alternately, if I decide to try hosting scrapbooking parties I can use the older one for that. 3 cricut expressions seems kind of excessive even to me (although the new one seems better priced than in the past) but I want to be able to use my software, use the functions of the Imagine for printing, and have the much easier use of the newest one, which is so easy to use that I can see myself using it a lot more, and there should be no need for another since PC says this one can download new improvements. (Though who knows if they will charge for that, but it probably will be considerably less than a new machine.) Maybe if it does what the Imagine does, I could sell that. But although I have heard it will take Imagine carts, they didn't say anything about a printing function, nor did I see one.
There are so many nestabilities to catch up on. I can't even believe how many there are. I'm getting there, with the nesties and grand nesties. But I still have probably one more order to go to be up-to-date. Same with cricut, but I am waiting for a sale. It sucks, I wish I won the lottery because there are so many great things out there! But I have to keep it to a manageable list, because I have other priorities to think about.
On to the list...
